Air ducting is part of HVAC system. Fine dust, flakes of dead skin and hair accumulates on air duct surface will form a matrix layer where bacteria, fungi, and mould develop and proliferate. Contaminated ducting system results in sick building syndrome.

Sick building syndrome is used to describe a situation in which occupants of building experience acute health- or comfort-related effects that seem to be linked directly to the time spent in the building.

Figure 1 showed that the duct  have contamination (growth of bacteria/ fungal/ mould). Ductworks within air conditioned buildings presents the greatest surface area for potential microbial colonization).
